1950s Frank Usher ballgown
A red-carpet dress from the master of glamour!
Fashioned from a delicately striped fabric, this show-stopper has a built-in boned bustier for secret support, and a full skirt with softly draping fabric over the bust. Fullness in the skirt, which is longer at the back to give a slight 'train' effect, is provided by a crinkly underskirt plus a layer of lining. Truly a dress for a special occasion. Measurements: (taken from garment laid flat with measurment doubled)
Armpit to armpit: 88 cm/34 inches
Waist: 64 cm/25 inches
Condition: Good vintage condition (see the Vintage Clothing Condition Guide for more information) There are some very faded marks and small age spots on this dress, on the bust and down the front of the skirt, but they are really very hard to see. On the bodice, the dress has a one time been stitched to make the neckiine higher. This has been removed and two tiny holes have been left.
